Q & A with Dearne

IW: What would you do during a typical day?

DEARNE: Can you define a typical day?  Haha, I don’t really have a typical day as there is a new challenges/activities every day.  First and mostly every day is your customer service, making sure my clients are responded to within the same business day and urgent matters are attended to.

IW: How did you get into this industry?

DEARNE: My very first job straight out of school was admin at a local Launceston office, a lady was leaving for Maternity leave and my boss at the time said it was my turn for the hot seat.  12 years later and here I am still doing it and am a Department Manager to top it off.

IW: What do you enjoy most about your job?

DEARNE:   I thrive on my client relationships especially those first-time investors as they are the hardest landlords to show how great you are at your job as they have never seen it before.

IW: What is the most challenging part of your job?

DEARNE:  Legislation and the market challenges we have. An ever-changing market from week to week and legislation that is all for tenants would be my biggest challenges.

IW: What advice would you give others that are looking to move into this industry?

DEARNE:  Do it!  It’s amazing, the rewards you get in return are out of this world. The thanks and reviews you receive make it worth those hard phone calls and days.  If you going to do it, make sure it is Harcourts - the best banner you can be under.
